His experience includes six years with IRS Large Business & International, where he progressed from Internal Revenue Agent to GS-14 Senior Revenue Agent/Team Coordinator and ultimately GS-14 Tax Law Specialist and National Subject Matter Expert in Compensation & Benefits.
As a Revenue Agent and Senior Revenue Agent, his work included complex federal examinations, examination planning, risk assessment, issue development, Information Document Requests, taxpayer conferences, technical analysis, proposed adjustments, and administrative resolution.
As a National Subject Matter Expert, he supported IRS examination teams on technically complex compensation and benefits matters, including examination strategy, factual development, information requests, technical analysis, and issue development.
Before joining the IRS, his experience included approximately nine years with LyondellBasell Industries in corporate accounting and tax. His later work included global tax provision, ASC 740, uncertain tax positions, audit support, executive compensation, stock-based compensation, and financial reporting.
George also previously served as an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Taxation at Oakwood University, teaching accounting and federal taxation courses.
